How to Change Name on Facebook | Change Name on Facebook: For most folks, the names we used to open our Facebook account five years agone is the same name we are still using nowadays. As we already know, "change is the only constant thing in life" and the good news is that Facebook has enabled us to change our names from time to time. Like the saying, "variety is the spice of life", so why won't you spice up your Facebook life and change your Facebook name. In this post, we are going to make available to you a step-by-step guide on how to change your name on Facebook.

  1. Tap on the menu button at the top right hand of the page (under the messenger logo)
  2. Move down to Account settings and tap on it
  3. Tap on General
  4. On the pop-up, tap on Name
  5. On the pop-up screen, type any name you want to know as on Facebook then tap on Review change
  6. Kindly enter your password and click on Save changes 

  1. Tap on the Facebook Drop down in the top right of Facebook and select Settings
  2. Tap on Name
  3. Input your name and tap on Review Change
  4. Enter password and tap on Save Changes

Be aware that Facebook has terms and conditions attached to changing your name on Facebook. They are listed below: 

1. Your name cannot include:
  • Numbers, Symbols, repeating characters or punctuation, unusual capitalization
  • Several Characters from multiple languages
  • Any kind of Titles (example: professional, religious)
  • Phrases or Words in place of a name
  • Any kind of Offensive or suggestive words 

2. If your name follows the standards and you are still having trouble changing it, find out why.

Here are other things to keep in mind:
  • The new name on your profile should be the name that your pals call you in everyday life. This name must also appear on an ID or document from our ID list.
  • Nicknames or aliases can be used as a first or middle name if they are a variation of your authentic name (like Bob instead of Robert).
  • You may also add another name on your account (example: maiden name, nickname, professional name).
  • Changing Profile names are for individual use only. You can create a Page for a business, organization or idea.
  • Trying to pretend to be anything or anyone is not allowed.

NOTE: You will not be able to change your name again until after sixty(60) days or two months.

You can always spice up your new name by adding a nickname, a birth name, etc. So go ahead, play around with some new fancy names but remember to align your change to work with the standards of Facebook.

How do I add or edit a language-specific name?

Language-specific names are a Facebook name in another language. If someone uses Facebook in the same language as your language-specific name, they will see your language-specific name in your profile, search results, posts, comments, and photo tags. You will also see your language-specific name if you use Facebook in that language.

To add or edit a language-specific name:
  • Click  at the top-right corner and select Settings.
  • Click Name.
  • Click add or change your language-specific name.
  • Enter your name as it appears in another language.
  • Enter your Password and click Save Changes.

To delete your language-specific name:

Complete steps 1–3 above.
Delete your language-specific name.
Enter your Password and click Save Changes.

If you're having trouble adding your language-specific name, it might be because the name you requested doesn't follow our name standards. Keep in mind that the language-specific name should be the name you go by in everyday life. Your language-specific name should also look the same on Facebook as it does on things like a magazine subscription, ID or membership card.

Each of these privacy settings will greatly determine the impact a group will make... so depending on how you want to use the group, consider what privacy to opt-in for.

How to Create A Group On Facebook

To create a Facebook group, follow the steps below.

  1. Tap on the top right of Facebook and select Create Group
  2. Select your group preferences, enter your group name, add group members and then select the privacy setting for your group
  3. Kindly Click Create

Immediately you create your group, you can personalize it by uploading a great cover photo and adding a cool description to it. These description will help new members understand what your Facebook group is all about.

How to Join a Facebook Group as myself or my Page

Joining a Group with your Profile:
  • From your News Feed, Tap Groups in the left menu.
  • In the search bar by the top corner, enter some keywords for the group you might be looking for.
  • Kindly select the group, then tap + Join Group below the cover photo.
  • Choose whether you would like to join as your profile or your Page and click on Join Group.
  • Relying on the group's settings, you might have to wait for a group admin to approve your request. 

Secret groups do not appear in search results, and only a current member will need to invite you. Immediately you join a group other people may be able to see that you are a member depending on the group's privacy option.

Joining a Group as a Page, keep in mind:

  • Admins group settings may not allow Pages to join their groups.
  • Pages only request to join groups and can not be invited to join groups.
  • If you have already joined a group with your profile and now want to join the group as Page, you can easily change who you are interacting as.
  • And only Page admins can request to join a group.

How to Leave/Exit a Facebook Group
To leave a group:

  • From your News Feed, Tap Groups in the left menu and select the group you want to leave.
  • Select joined below the cover photo and then select Leave Group.

When you leave a group:

  • Members will not be notified if you leave.
  • You are then removed from the group's member list and the group will be removed from your list of groups.
  • You will no longer receive group notifications or see group posts in News Feed.
  • People will not know when you have seen a group post, even if you saw it before you left the group.

How many Facebook Groups can You Join?

Nice Question... Well, you can join up to 6,000 groups. Once you reach this limit, you will need to exit some groups before you can join new ones.

How to Change the Privacy for a Facebook Group 

To change the privacy for a group you admin:
  • From your News Feed, tap Groups in the left menu and select your group.
  • Tap  More then select Edit Group Settings.
  • Move down to Privacy and click Change Privacy Settings and then select a new privacy setting.
  • Tap Confirm and then click Save.

For all groups:
  • Facebook Groups are limited to one privacy setting change every 28 days.
  • Once the group privacy setting is changed, admins have 24 hours to change it back if they would like to.
  • Groups can always change their privacy to a more restrictive setting.

For groups with 5,000 members or more:

  • Closed groups cannot change their privacy setting to public.
  • Secret groups can change their privacy setting to closed, but not to public.

For groups with fewer than 5,000 members:

The privacy setting of the group can be changed to any setting (public, closed or secret).

Note: All the members of your group will receive a notification message when you change the privacy.
